Short and sweet: Aimee Mann, my veryveryvery favourite singer in the whole wide universe, has a new album coming out May 3, which you can listen to online here, and it is glorious.
Standout tracks for me so far: Little Bombs, Goodbye Caroline, She Really Wants You
AND, it's a concept album, man. That's craziness.

what's the concept?
Something about the story of a carnival worker who meets a boxer at a fair before he goes to Vietnam and they travel across the country and sing gloomy songs about their relationship.
Good times.
of course! that was the first thing that sprung to mind.
I love it when aimee mann & mr. mann are asked to be music commentators for entertainment weekly. they are dry & mocking & self-effacing. basically everything I would ask for in a commentator.

Aimee Mann puts on the best live shows! I saw her play a couple of times with her husband Michael Penn with comedic accompaniment by Todd Barry. She's terrific. I need to go listen to "I'm With Stupid" now...
